USB Connected - Frozen Screen

Updated today
  1. If your GoPro displays the [USB Connected] screen when plugged in and then freezes, it's likely a cable issue. You're cables might be too long which can degrade the signal and data connection. We recommend using a 3ft coiled cable for the camera connection and 6ft cable for the iPad or iPhone connection. See our list of recommended cables.

  2. Additionally, you can try resetting the connections in the GoPro settings. Then pair the device through the GoPro quik app before trying the wired connection:

    1. Swipe down, then swipe left

    2. Tap [Preferences]

    3. Tap [Wireless Connections]

    4. Scroll down and tap [Reset Connections]

  3. Format the SD card:

    1. Ensure the SD card is in the camera and the camera is powered on

    2. Swipe down on the touch display (Hero 11/10/9 Black, swipe left after swiping down)

    3. Tap [Preferences]

    4. Scroll to the bottom and tap [Reset]

    5. Tap [Format SD Card]

    6. Tap [Format]

    7. Restart the GoPro

  4. If your GoPro was previously paired with another device, you may need to Reset the GoPro to factory settings so that it can be paired to a new device without interruption.

    1. Reset the GoPro to factory settings by navigating to [Preferences] - [Reset] - [Factory Reset]

    2. Install/open the GoPro Quik app and connect the GoPro to it.

    3. Once connected, give GoPro a custom name.

    4. Test the live view by tapping [Enable Preview] on the Quik app (this will force the GoPro to connect to a device using WiFi)

    5. Once this is confirmed working, close the Quik app

    6. Then open the Snappic app, select your event, and test the GoPro connection

  5. If previous steps didn't resolve it or there are no other cables available to try, you can bypass the data port on the pedestal and plug the iPhone/iPad directly into the data port on the bottom side of arm 1 (the section of the arm with the Glambot® logo).
