Canon R8 won’t connect to iPhone / Snappic

Updated over a week ago

If your canon R8 camera won’t connect to Snappic, check and adjust the settings on your camera as needed:

  1. Most Common: Try another USB cable. Ensure it is a USB 2.0 data transfer cable. See our list of recommended cables

  2. The USB-C connection point into arm 2 (the smaller section of the arm without the Glambot® logo) needs flipped. Some USB-C connections are directional and only work one way. Try Flipping the USB-C cable connection into the data port 180°.

  3. Set the [Choose USB Connection App] setting to Photo Import/Remote Control

  4. Disable [Network Settings] on the camera (wireless connections can interfere with USB tethering)

  5. Disable [Bluetooth Settings] on the camera (Bluetooth can interfere with USB tethering)

  6. Update the camera to the latest firmware

  7. Update Snappic to the latest version

  8. Update iPhone/iPad to the latest IOS Software

  9. Format the memory card, then turn the camera off and back on again

  10. If using an iPhone/ipad with a lightning port, you will need to use the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter
