Shakiness in Videos

If you are experiencing shaky or unstable videos, follow the settings and tips below for the smoothest filming experience:

Canon R8/DSLR:

  1. For camera models with IBIS, please read Camera Stabilization Conflicts

  2. Set digital stabilization to [Enhanced]

  3. Ensure that your camera is properly mounted (centered, weight evenly distributed, and mounted as close to the rod as possible). See Universal DSLR mount installation for instructions and a video tutorial on how to set this up.

  4. If your lens has Stabilization built in, make sure it is turned on.

  5. Currently, the best lens that we've tested is the Canon RF 14-35mm F4 L IS USM. This lens provides slightly better stabilization than previous Canon RF 10-20mm F4 L IS STM and others.

  6. Make sure that the robot's casters are fully up off the floor and the base is solid with no wobble. You can move the casters up or down using the built-in ratcheting lever and switch labeled "Up" or "Down"

  7. Calibrate with the camera attached. MAKE SURE THE CAMERA IS TUCKED BACK TOWARDS THE BASE OF THE ROBOT (AS SHOWN IN THE PHOTO) SO IT DOES NOT CAUSE ANY DAMAGE.

  8. Change the Tune Setting from [Legacy] to [Improved]. This is found in the advanced settings section of the Glambot® Motion Control Software.

GoPro:

  1. Turn on Hypersmooth mode (Change the Video and Slowmo settings)

iPhone:

  1. Set stabilization to [Standard]. This allows for a high frame rate of 240fps and stabilization for smoothness. If more stabilization is needed, you can try changing it to [Cinematic], but this will limit the frame rate to 120fps.
